UV Coating
UV coating is a process that involves applying a glossy coating to paper using a specialized UV coating machine and curing it with UV light. This coating provides a higher gloss compared to varnish or water-based coatings and is available in both glossy and matte finishes.
Currently, UV coating systems can be integrated with printing presses, allowing for immediate UV coating after printing. There is also a water-based UV coating option that is environmentally friendly.
UV coating is ideal for various applications, including packaging boxes, flyers, brochures, posters, book covers, magazine covers, pocket books, and hardcover books.
OPP Film Laminating
Previously known as PVC laminating, OPP (Oriented Polypropylene) film laminating has replaced PVC due to its higher shrinkage rates. OPP film laminating involves coating paper with a layer of OPP film using adhesive, which is then dried with heat. This process enhances the paper's durability and makes it more water-resistant.
The surface can be finished in either a glossy or matte texture. While OPP laminating provides a smooth and high-gloss finish, it generally has a higher cost compared to UV coating. OPP laminating is suitable for applications that require increased durability, such as packaging boxes, flyers, brochures, posters, book covers, magazine covers, pocket books, and hardcover books.
Spot UV Coating
Spot UV coating is a process where a glossy coating is applied only to specific areas of a print job, such as important text, images that need highlighting, or particular patterns. The areas treated with Spot UV will stand out with a glossy finish, creating a contrast with the rest of the surface.
To use Spot UV, the areas to be coated must be designed and prepared to create a separate block for the UV coating. Typically, Spot UV is used in conjunction with a matte OPP coating to achieve a contrasting effect between the glossy spots and the matte background. This technique is commonly used for business cards, magazine covers, book covers, and packaging boxes.
Water-Based Coating
Water-based coating involves applying a glossy finish to paper using water as a solvent. This type of coating, known as water-based coating, produces a natural sheen that is less glossy compared to other coating methods.
Foil Stamping for UV Metallized Printing
Foil stamping is a technique used to add a luxurious touch to printed materials. This method involves applying foil onto the surface of a print job using heat. Foils are available in various colors, including gold, silver, and other shades like red, yellow, purple, blue, gray, and green. Each color enhances the appearance of the print, adding elegance and drawing attention to specific areas.
Foil stamping is well-suited for packaging boxes, envelopes, flyers, and paper bags, where a sophisticated and eye-catching finish is desired.
